My scope of practice includes family law, estate law, ICBC matters (referred to as driving law), including but not limited to, management of ICBC’s internal processes such as liability apportionment, insurance breach, and debt forgiveness, committeeship applications, contract drafting, motor vehicle act infractions (commonly known as traffic tickets), and various independent legal advice sessions. I practice in other niche areas and would suggest a consultation to discuss your legal matter to see if I am the right lawyer for you.

Free fifteen-minute consultations are offered for each legal matter. No legal documents will be reviewed before or during a free fifteen-minute consultation. The free fifteen is primarily an information gathering session where I can determine what legal options may be offered.
If you feel your legal matter requires a longer consultation, please consider seeking a paid consultation. In paid consultations, documentation may be reviewed before better assisting my understanding of your legal matter.
No legal advice is given during the consultation stage.

Depending on your legal matter fees can vary. I offered fixed fee, blended fee and hourly fee retainers based on the legal matter and complexity. Fees are outlined in each retainer individually and are subject to change with proper notice, which can also be found in the individual retainer.
Fixed fee – a quoted legal price plus taxes and disbursements for a legal matter where the scope of the matter is limited.
Blended fee – a combination of fixed fee and hourly fee, where the scope for a fixed fee is provided and, should your file require specific or more complex legal work outside of the fixed fee scope, an hourly rate is used for work outside of the scope.
Hourly fee – an hourly rate is provided, with caveats found within a retainer agreement. All hourly billing will be billed using daily timers by rounding up to the nearest sixth (6) minuteand includes, but is not limited to, travel time, the crafting or reviewing of emails, phone calls, review of voicemails, legal research and/or writing, document drafting and/or review, and meetings with authorized third parties, and the client.

Legal matters are complex, and each matter is determined on several factors, including court timelines, statutory waiting periods, and ‘the human factor’ of each person involved in the file. While I try to provide an average timeline for legal matters, at times it is not possible, or files become complex as they progress.

I am a sole practitioner and seek to understand the needs of my clients when it comes to communication. I typically respond to emails within 24 hours, and phone calls the next day at the latest. These time frames may be extended when a file requires my attention, such as periods where I may be advocating for a client in court or travel is required. I am also available through a text message after being retained.

Cancellation happens, I understand that, and at times may ask to reschedule myself based on urgency, illness, and other factors. If you need to cancel an appointment, I just ask that it be done with 24 notice. Emergencies happen, and communication is key – please do your best to inform me at your earliest opportunity. Charges may apply for missed appointments based on your retainer agreement.

I am happy to discuss financial needs with clients on an individual basis. If you require a professional that practices outside of my scope, I maintain a wide network of professionals I can refer a client to that would best suit their needs.

If you have concerns and would like to reach out in confidence, please feel free to contact me using a medium that best suits you. No one should find the legal system inaccessible, and I am happy to discuss how I can best serve you and your legal matter if it falls within my scope of practice. If I am not able to help you, I am happy to reach out to my network to provide referrals.
